OK GANG I HAVE A BIG DISCUSTING PROBLEM AMD AM A BIT EMBARRASSED TO BRING IT UP BUT I NEED SUGGESTIONS.I HAVE A VERY OLD CAT WHO HAS STARTED SOME VERY BAD HABITS,HE IS POOPING IN MY FLOOR HEATER VENT.WHICH WITH THE HEATING SEASON APPROACHING THIS HAS TO STOP.IT IS DIEREA TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE.HE HAS A CAT BOX AND ACCESS TO GO OUTSIDE ANYTIME.HE WAS DOING THIS LAST YEAR BUT STOPPED WHEN SUMMER CAME BECAUSE HE WAS OUTSIDE MOST OF THE TIME.THE COLD WEATHER AND HIS OLD BONES MAKES HIM STAY IN NOW.I HAD TO BUY A NEW VENT AND HERE HE STARTS OVER AGAIN.I HAVE TRIED PEPPER ALL OVER THE VENT AND EVEN STRONG CLEANING PRODUCTS TO TRY AN DETOUR HIM.LAST THANKSGIVEING HE WAS SO NASTY HE CLIMBED UP ON OUR STOVE AND PEED IN THE BURNER...I LOVE ANIMALS AND I KNOW HE IS OLD BUT I CANNOT TOLERATE THESE THINGS.ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL.THANKS!!

hay sorry to hear about your cat. i wish i could help but i have never had a cat. did you talk to the vet? maybe there is somthing you can do. i wish you the best of luck, big hugs :)

I have never heard of cats liking to poop or pee where there is warmth coming out, like your burners and heating vent. I can give you a place to check out on here which I am a part of. It is a "cat lovers" group and there may be several helpful tips that others can give you there as well. Try it out or maybe you have checked it out already. I sure hope that kitty will stop doing this. One of my cats is old and she tends to pee sometimes away from her litter box. It does get frustrating and so had to confine her in the room with the litter box for awhile to train that this is where you poop and pee not any where else in the house. She seems to get it now but who knows she may lapse again. So please check out the cat lovers group.

We had a cat when I was growing up that would go to the bathroom in places he shouldn't out of sheer spite because he was mad at us...he loved to lay on whatever you were doing or working on, homework, a project, the newspaper,
I remember my mom wrapping up plastic utensils in napkins for a barbeque, and as usual he wanted to be in the thick of things, and, of course, we wouldn't let him lie in it. so once my mom's back was turned, he got in and peed in the box of utensils... looking right at her.... look right at us and go....

when he was healthy, he was a bit of a germaphobe, for lack of a better word, he hated to touch the litter with his paws, and would have all four paws on the edges of the pan...

That being said though... he was the biggest suck in the world too.... a true cuddle monster.... but i also think he was taken away from his mother too early, several behaviours pointed to that...

However, when he got old, he did start to go places, all over the basement, I don't think he could help it... complications of old age sickness... we eventually had to have him put down he couldn't control his bowels... poor thing...
