Anger Management Support Group
Anger management commonly refers to therapeutic techniques by which someone with excessive or uncontrollable anger can control or reduce their emotions. Typical examples include the use of deep breathing and meditation as a means to relaxation. Psychologists recommend a balanced approach, which both controls the emotion and allows it to express itself in a healthy way.
I was soooo angry yesterday when a horribly impatient driver had the nerve to ride the shoulder of a one lane road and pass me on the right. Just to get ahead of me to sit there and wait for their child at school. There was still a full 10 minutes before the bell was to ring!
I find when I go the speed limit and follow all traffic rules there are more and more assholes who are in such a hurry to speed. I swear I was so angry I worried about myself!
So if you are the victim of aggressive drivers and you are following all traffic rules, then I feel for you.
but if you are one of the impatient ones.. like the lady who sped around me... lol.. I guess I can't give support to you until I know if you are a cautious driver who is getting honked at by assholes. or if you are the "Ricky Racer" who gets angry when people are going the speed limit and not 20 mph over it!
anyway.. I thought it funny that I saw this post. so relevant to me!
i am sorry about you anger issues , unfortunately theres a lot in this world to influence us in having anger in a low level or high one but i hope you understand that your anger doesnt exist because of opposite situations that happen to you , it just makes itself visible during them , it is always awake within yourself , so much that maybe even small things can make you react with rage , i am right ?
That rages job is to take away your health , peace and all the other good things away from you , your enemy is not the opposite situations , like losing a game or being disrespected in the traffic jam , your enemy is the anger that lives inside you , i dont believe quitting playing games you enjoy is the answer , you dont have to sacrifice something you like , you see what anger is doing to you?
Be wise my friend , take a journey within , i see you have a lot of experience in life , much more than me but i had an anger so big that for a long time i forgot that i had other things in my heart other than anger . Controlling yourself during situations is a great thing but anger cant be held back forever , you either control yourself and calm down your within and step down on anger or you control yourself , build it up within and let it step down on you on future situations , your angry attitudes and reactions are consequences of the fruit of anger within , you need to cut evil by its roots , not its leafs or it will grow again with much more strength . I can see you have the will to change , i believe you also have the strength , the weak would never come here or anywhere else asking for help and advice , you know why you get so angry , you know why your peace runs away from you when you most need it , take each opposite situation as a chance to embrace peace again , your serenity must not only be on your reactions but first it must be inside your heart , dont feed inside you what wants to take the good things you have . I wish the best for you and really hope you will understand what i am talking about , dont know if you believe in God but even if you dont , ask him to show you the path towards changing , i believe he will guide you . Take care and have faith that you will leave that anger behind .
I have a tip that seems to work really well for my husband who also has an explosive temper while driving. When he drives he now listens to mostly classical music. Its not at all his normal type of music but I have noticed a huge improvement in both his driving and his temper. On the days when he listens to his normal radio stations which are sports and rock or punk his patience goes back to pretty much none existent.
Classical music though seems to calm him right down. Its pretty hard to get upset while listening to something thats soothing for you. :) Anyhow it doesnt have to be classical but maybe try something simular. Dunno if that will help you but its worth a try.
