An aneurysm (or aneurism) is localized, blood-filled dilation (bulge) of a blood vessel caused by disease or weakening of the vessel wall. Aneurysms most commonly occur in arteries at the base of the brain and in the aorta - this is an aortic aneurysm. This bulge in a blood vessel can burst and lead to death at any time.

Ever since my aneurysm, my thoughts, feelings, actions, and emotions have changed. I was 9 when i had my aneurysm and i stayed in the hospital until i was 10. 5 years later i am a completely different person. I am a lesbian, i am depressed all the time, my anger has escalated, i started cutting. When i was younger i was happier, more excited, not gay, and not a goth. Do you think it is related to the aneurysm? I do....

I survived a ruptured brain annie then went back to college to re start my brain.
Think of your brain like it is a computer. An aneurysm wipes the hard drive completely clean and you have to start all over!
We, once again, have to learn to control our anger. We have to re learn all of our emotions because it takes about 5 years for the old brain to completely re-boot. I think this may be behind your cutting.
As for being Gay. I believe that 90% of people that are gay are born that way and maybe 10% become Gay after some traumatic issue that happens in their youth.

I had brain surgery for my aneurysms when I was 30 and can say 100% that it affects the brain. Many things change and is different for so many people. I assume you had brain surgery and at such a young age where the brain is still developing I can only assume it affected your brain more than it did mine. As for an answer did it cause being a lesbian...I will never know. You are a young teenager, the question of sex come up at that age and may have been what you chose had you not had an aneurysm at all. The same is true for cutting at that age. I have an older brother who cut on himself at the age...he has gone on and gotten a PH.D and is doing well. For that I say tell your parents if they don't already know. Talking about it with them may be difficult but they wont care any less for you. If your not getting any help I suggest looking to talk with a psychologist who can help you move through this time in life. Being a teen is a very difficult time in a persons life....and having had an aneurysm makes it that much more difficult. I myself struggle in my life and have a hard time with work and all. I wish you the best.

I too have survived a ruptured double aneurysm which was on the left side of my brain, which affects the physical side. So the older I get, the more ailments I seem to contract. Can I ask what side of the brain yours was on? It sounds like it might have been the right side which affects your emotional states.

Either way, it takes quite sometime for your brain to heal. AND, it takes a lot of work. One thing I feel I'm hearing is that you don't like the person who you think you're becoming. But that's a good thing...you recognize what you don't want to become. That's where you can start changing things with the help and support of others.

Are you and your parents close? Or do you feel out of place and misunderstood?
