Anemia (or anaemia), which literally means "without blood," is a deficiency of red blood cells and/or hemoglobin. This results in a reduced ability of blood to transfer oxygen to the tissues, and this causes hypoxia; since all human cells depend on oxygen for survival, varying degrees of anemia can have a wide range of clinical consequences.
Lots and lots of bloodwork. Iron infusions that did not last. Bone marrow biopsies. Referred to a gastroenterologist. Lots of procedures.
What I am trying to tell you is this often requires a lot of patience as they rule out things. It has been well over a year now that I began with the hematologist/gastroenterologist. It all sounds scary but again, you have to realize, they need to look thoroughly and rule out Try if you can not to let this all upset you--it is somewhat a process that takes a lot of time (sometimes) If you are pre-menopausal, chances are you won't have to go through as much as I have.
