Anemia (or anaemia), which literally means "without blood," is a deficiency of red blood cells and/or hemoglobin. This results in a reduced ability of blood to transfer oxygen to the tissues, and this causes hypoxia; since all human cells depend on oxygen for survival, varying degrees of anemia can have a wide range of clinical consequences.

Anemia % kidney disease

Hi Eveyone, I am new here. I have amenia as a result of kidney disease. I am tired all the time. There is not much I can do about. Does anyone else have this type of anemia?

What stage is your kidney disease in? Are you on dialysis? Treatment will depend on your stage and other current treatments. Options include IV iron and medications that stimulate your bone marrow to make more red blood cells. Your kidney specialist or dialysis team should be able to help you make a decision on which type of treatment you need. It's important that you get it treated before it goes too low-otherwise you may need a blood transfusion or it may increase your chances of having heart problems. I have stage 3 kidney disease and anemia and right now we are considering which route we want to go, especially since I have high blood pressure (which has to be under 140 to administer the infusion of medication).

I have stage 5. I started in center dialysis on March 8, 2017 I go Monday, Wednesday and Friday.. I live alone so at home dialysis is out of the question. I get a shot for the anemia there. I did have to have a transfusion in 2011. My right foot was infected and I was in the hospital. I have diabetes type 2.
