Androgenic Alopecia Support Group
Androgenic alopecia (also known as androgenetic alopecia or alopecia androgenetica) is a common form of hair loss in both men and women. The pattern of hair loss in women differs from male-pattern baldness. In women, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede. Androgenetic alopecia in women rarely leads to total baldness.

Hi,
I have suffered from hair loss due to my auto immune disease for the last 12 months. I am a female in my late 40's and my self esteem was gone for the first 8 months while I did everything to stop my hair loss and nothing was working. Just like many of you, I was always stressed out and worried about how I looked and if people are talking and laughing about my thinning hair. This terrible feeling and emotion added stress and caused more hair loss. Then in July, my dermatologist told me about the product "TOPPIK" which saved my life. It's a concealer that creates fake hair fiber, and totally washable. It takes less than 1 min to have my hair back, and my hair dresser couldn't tell it was not real. Now I don't have to worry about others looking at top of my head at work or outside of my home. My self esteem is back and as a result of not worrying about thinning hair and disease control medication, my hair is growing back. I also use men's Rogain and it has been working as well, but for my appearance and self esteem, this product saved my life. I saw some postings about thinking of suicide and thought I would let you know what works for me. I totally understand how stressful and difficult to live when you are losing hair, especially as a woman. I had never thought I would be in this position myself. If dermatologist didn't tell me about TOPPIK, I would never tried it as I would think that's just one of those products that don't work, but I am so happy he told me to try. He also told me it's not a big deal to use such product and it's just the same thing as women using mascara and eye shadow to enhance their appearance. This statement made me feel better about using the product. I am so happy that I did and I overcame the depression of losing hair. I just wanted to share this with you guys. Oh, by the way, I have mid-dark brown hair and use 4 different shades to make the fiber look more natural as my dermatologist recommended. It works for me:-)

Hi, I have very, very thin hair and have considered trying that product but I don't know if it would work for my level of baldness. It's pretty thin, however I still have enough hair to put into a ponytail. Does it work with all levels of thinning hair? Are there any money back guarantees in case I buy it and it doesn't work? I've noticed it's a little pricey. And how long does a medium sized bottle last if I used it five days a week? Thanks, Gail

I've used a product similiar to this...it's caled Great Hair Day. It's by Joan Rivers (lol). But it REALLY helps conceal what's going on. People don't believe me that I'm losing my hair until they see me without it on.

TOPPIK has given me back my self esteem. I have androgenetic alopecia and have worked in the beauty industry for almost 20 years. How I look determines if I work. :-( TOPPIK is wonderful. I recommend it to everyone who has problems with thinning hair. Mine is pretty severe as you can see areas of my scalp through my entire head. Toppik makes me feel feminine. My hair is dark and the fibers can get everywhere in my bathroom but I DON'T CARE!!! I look like I have hair! :-)

Do you buy the attachment that can go on the Toppik bottle to make it an aerosol?

No...I just shake it on in the areas that need it (which is pretty much all over) an use a little hair spray to hold it in place. It stays. :-)

Puffster- Do you have Graves or Hashimotos? Just wondering. I have Graves and obviously have "joined the club". UGH!
