The pattern of hair loss in women differs from male-pattern baldness. In women, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede. Hi everyone! I'm 18 years old student from Georgia(country in europe). I was diagnosed with an androgenic alopecia two month ago,doctor suggested me minoxidil and i'm taking it. From my point of view, there is a few result, but i'm interested have you taken this kind of medcine and if it has a result. Also, i would be thankful if you could suggested me other kinds of treatment from your experience. Thanks for attention.

I have been losing my hair steadily due to androgenic alopecia for the past 6 months. I am nearly bald. Mine was triggered by discontinuing the Birth Control Pill. It threw my hormones out of whack and the shedding hasn't stopped since.
Like you, I searched for solutions. I first started eating very healthfully and taking a multivitamin. Next I went to a Hair "Specialist" that recommend Low-level laser light therapy (it's like a hat you wear every other day for 30 minutes that supposedly stimulates the hair follicle). It is pricey, and so far I've seen no results after 6 months. I then went to my MD to get bloodwork done to ensure nothing is wrong with my thyroid or other nutrient levels - all good. At my wit's end, I engaged the (very expensive) help of a Specialist in woman's hormones. She has me on all sorts of supplements, but nothing is working. So to sum it up, I have done a lot of my own research on hair loss and growth, and AGA (woman's androgenic alopecia). When the follicle dies, there's really nothing we can do to prevent shedding. Our bodies are genetically predisposed to "androgenic effects" of testosterone on the hair follicle.
What I'd recommend to you is that you see a Dermatologist to see if any anti-androgenic therapy may treat you, since you are so young. Sometimes the Birth Control Pill can help block the androgens. There is also Spirolactonone, which helps a lot of women regain hair growth.

I have also tried minoxidil, i was put on another medication too and i tried caffein shampoo, the shampoo did work for me for a little bit but i found nothing really worked. I was diagnosed 8years ago and trust me i have tried a lot.
