I'm new to this forum, but thought I'd share my struggle and ask for some advice. I grew up having normal hair until I was about 35... that's when my trouble started. I discontinued using the birth control pill and my body went crazy with the hormone adjustment. I did everything: got blood tests to check iron levels, bought fancy hair vitamins, saw an endocrinologist... nothing helped. In fact, it's now at the point where my hair is so miniaturized that it looks like I have "baby-like" hair, as well as a hairline receding so badly that I can't even put my hair in a ponytail. I'm so embarassed by my appearance, I just want a normal head of hair that isn't constantly falling out. I know it's just hair and I shouldn't feel so self-conscious, but it feels traumatic.
I recently saw a hair specialist who mentioned a treatment called Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy to try and get my hair to grow again. It's expensive. Has anyone tried it and/or had any luck?
I seem to be losing increasing amounts of hair. I have stage 4 copd. Could the O2 deprivation cause hair loss? Anyone else having this problem?Thanks, Glenda Sue
Still looking for a solution to my thinning hair. I have tried on wigs but most have way too much hair and are very hot - like wearing a winter hat all day.
