I'm new to the ALS support group, but wanted to share my story with hopes that someone can relate.
My husband's family has a long line of ALS, starting with his grandfather, who passed in the 90's. My father-in-law then got ALS and passed in 2003. Most recently, my husband's 22 year old brother was diagnosed with ALS and passed only 7 months later, in 2008.
My husband has been having symptoms for quite some time, he went in for tests in 2009 and they didn't believe he had ALS at the time. However, he continues to have twitches in his legs, and they're sore all the time. He hasn't had genetic testing done yet, but that may be the next step. He is only 23.
Anyone here with a similar family history of ALS?

Sorry to hear about your husband. We have been working with Dr. Brown at UMass Medical, he is amazing and treated both my brother in law and father in law.
We recently discovered we are expecting our second child, so I think given his family history, we would like to go through with the genetic testing and find out for sure. At least that will stop the wondering which we both struggle with. If there is a chance that our children will not inherit this gene, we would like to know for sure.

My husband was diagnosed of ALS in 2013 and it was really tough and heartbreaking for me because he was my all and the symptoms were terrible, he always have trouble swallowing , and he always complain of Weakness of the body . we tried various therapies prescribed by our neurologist but none could cure him. I searched for a cure and i saw a testimony by someone who was cured and so many other with similar body problem, and he left the contact of the doctor who had the cure to ALS.
