I haven't been on for a while. Maybe some people have been in a similar position to me.

I havn't had the time to get online as much as I used to.I dont know of any other sites as good as this one.

Maybe we should start a conversation?

i havent been on for awhile but loved this sight it help me alot in the begin im a rak for 2 years now and im feeling great how is everybody doing i know this doesnt sound right but it is a blessing for me that i had my accident it changed me and i have such a better outlook on life and whats really important in life sometimes in life you need to loose something to gain something

I must be in the 4th year slump. Since moving to Iowa I have not done much walking at all. I am still working with the prosthetist I chose trying to get a socket that works. We are on the 4th check socket and the definitive carbon fiber socket is not even a dream yet. I have to stick with this guy because he has used up most of my Medicare money for this year. Anyway, I'm not letting that get me down, yet.

I am still on my first socket/leg and it has been six months since I got it.I have a pin lock,but plan to change to a vacuum system when my leg size stabilizes.I am using 8 plies with two 1 ply half socks in the morning and then add 1 or 2 plies in the late afternoon as required. I wear it all day and have had a few problems, but Hanger has been able to resolve them. I am a BTK amputee.

I'm still in my test socket, a pin lock system, too. The volume changes so frequently that I don't want to get a definitive until it really settles down. I hate the idea of constantly adding socks if it's too big, or not being to even get it on if it's too tight, and being stuck with it forever.... I'd rather go through the inconvenience of socks now for a better final fit later.
I like my prosthetist just fine, but reading all the raves abut Hanger I wish there was one in Hawaii. Oh well, maybe one of these days.

I've not been on for a while apart,from the occasional look to see what the latest discussion is. To be honest as I'm not an acquired amp I've always felt a little like I'm on the outside looking in.
That said, I've always found the group to be friendly & helpful. I do hope we can continue this thread for a while.

I've been gone for awhile, was in the hospital from sept. 24 to nov.11. Also have had a revision done and now still waiting to get my shrink stocking. It looks like this dr. did a good job. The sting, burning and the asleep feeling seems to be gone. I just hope when I get a new leg that it will still be gone. This is a great web site with a lot of good people. I will always come here I didn't have my computer in the hospital. I hope everyone is doing well. Debi.

It is good to see a good respond to this post. I do hope that the last month of the year will be good to everybody. I hope that the new year will be better then the last year for everbody.

I do check in with this site couple times a month to see what is going and to see if anybody need help.

I apply liquid silk to my stump then roll on my silicone(it's shaped like a condom).I spry it down with a mixture of achole water an liquid silicone an slide it into my socket my problem is after about 6 hours the silicne thingy starts to rotate on my stump because of my sweating any body have any ideas on how to get rid of the water taking it off an starting over again takes about 20 mins an is a pain in the ass .any ideas?

I just found this sight. I'm so thankful for it. I have spent about and hour reading some of the advice. I got a bka Oct 14 2012 after fighting an infection in my ankle since Feb. I spent most of that time in the hospital and then 6 weeks in rehab. I got my leg on Dec 6. I do get frustrated with myself that I'm not progressing fast enough. I thought that I would get it and take off. I just started using the cane instead of the walker and am finding that I have to get past my fears more than my inableties. Thank you all for being here. Oh I do have Hanger and am really happy with all the help and guidance I have gotten from them in telling what to expect even when I don't want to except it.
