I pretty much always have my leg on, but when I don't, I use regular crutches only.

I use forearm crutches for getting around short distances. For long distance stuff like a dog walk thru the woods I use an electric wheelchair I was lucky to get hold of.

i am not amputee but my friend is . He uses regular crunches for both inside and out side but has a for scooter for out side. He goes everywhere on that scooter. His leg is broken at this time I am trying to help him get it fixed or get a new one He is a very poor man. I am not sure how long the leg has been broken but i think for long time.. He has been an amputee for 10 years. He also has the added problem of having mild palsy and falls a lot . one good thing is that he is thin ,not very heavy. He seem to get up pretty fast. this is my first time to deal with an amutee up close and personal . I'm a pretty big girl and a fall risk. I fall a lot. I use my regular wheelchair.

Before I got my leg and learned how to walk on it,I used a walker and when I went shopping I would get in the car,fold up the walker and when I arrived at the store(using my left for both the brakes and gas) I would use the walker to get inside where I would use an electric cart which most super markets have,then do everything in reverse to get back home.

I just got my leg, and am still getting used to it. In the house I use a rollator walker, and put my knee up on it and use it like a scooter. I sit on it when I get to my destination, like the sink, or the front door to get the mail, etc. I use forearm crutches to go from indoors to my vehicle. I drive with my left foot, when I don't have on my prossie, and then use my crutches to get to the back of my vehicle to get out my Quickie GPV wheelchair to haul myself around in. I love having a sport wheelchair! So so so much easier than a regular one to push!

when i was a kid ,I knew a little boy who would throw his crutches down and hop faster than I could run on his one leg. Another little girl who went to the Easter Seal center school with my son , was a double ampute she had legs but did not like them they slowed her down so she would swing her body using both arms and hands. she could move so fast .

I don't have a prosthetic so I tend to use crutches most of the time, wheelchair whenever possible, and walker for those times that's possible. Around the house, for things that won't take long or am not going more than about 10 feet I do a 3 leg crab walk or just scoot along on the floor. I used to use a fold up barstool which I had put casters on and it worked OK until I backpedaled it onto a chicken bone one of the kitties left in the doorway between the kitchen and living room. That resulted in a very scary fall backward and the casters got removed, the little rubber feet went back on, and it found a new home and I got 10 of the $15 I paid for it back.... (But I have to admit the chair WAS fun up 'til then)
