Amputation is the removal of a body extremity by trauma or surgery. Many have undergone amputation or have been living with a missing limb since birth. In either case, life as an amputee can be challenging. This is the place to find others going through the same experiences as an amputee. My husband is 60 years old. he lost his entire right arm in an accident about 40 years ago. He is having some pain in his left hand. jHe's been experiencing this on and off for many years. He went to a sports medicine doctor today who x-rayed the hand. The dr. wants to do further tests, but says it's either arthritis or carpel tunnel. If it is carpel tunnel, the dr. wants to do surgery on the hand. My husband (understandably) is frightened to do this. Not bc of the needle, or pain ... but what if he loses flexability - or worse - with the hand or fingers? Has anyone else who is missing one arm had carpel tunnel surgery on the remaining hand? What was your experience? TY !!! God bless.
I know nothing about losing an arm.
What I do know about -is the worrying that comes before a surgery.
Always remember: There is a chance your husband passes through the surgery with flying colors.
All you can do is pray, and hope for the best.
Know that we are all standing behind you hoping, and praying, as well.
