Loss of toes and fingers

My sister just lost all the toes on her left foot, and a couple of fingers on each hand, down to the second knuckle due to Toxic Shock Syndrome. I realize this is minor compared to some but it is devastating nonetheless. Will she walk normally again? Are there prosthetic toes? Prosthetic fingers? Any insight you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

hi there notsure ifther are prosthetic toes or figers but from experence please treat her as normal as you can she will get frasutred ad angry and take it out on you just be patent with her and no lossing any part of your body is a big deal feel free to ask any questions only to glad to help if i can take care

I doubt that anyone makes prosthetics for fingers or toes, but a search on Google or Yahoo or Bing will turn up anyplace that does. Just for her information, if she watched the TV show "M.A.S.H." and saw the character "Radar" played by Gary Burghoff, he was missing fingers on one hand, but throughout the entire run of the show, managed to hide that fact from the cameras. The rumor I heard was, the producers just loved his innocent look and naive act but the Army wasn't likely to take an recruit that had an amputation so Gary - who was supposedly sensitive about it, himself - just kept his hand out of camera range or holding papers in such a way it wasn't apparent.

Most people might look, but the majority won't stare, or ask about the missing fingers, so I bet that as time goes by, she'll get more confident and less worried about What Other People Think. (Which is as I believe things should be; people lose parts once in a while but it doesn't reduce them as PEOPLE.
