Well its done. I thought I mat battle regrets and being very nervous. Surgery went awesome, no more then 45 minutes. Pain has been minimal, other then when the nerve blockers wore off. Learning to balance hasn't been too bad eithee. Would and staples look great. The only thing that is bugging me is the Phantom foot itching in various spots and not getting much physical activity. Just thought I would toss my experience out there. I know there is still a long road ahead, but I'm trying to stay excited.

I had some phantom pain/itching after mine too. The best thing for me was to (going to sound funny) itch the opposite leg. It does go away after a few months. The nerves and brain have to get used to the loss. Mine was done in 03 and I still "feel" some itching but not as bad. Keep in good spirits :) V

So im up and going with my prosthetic and doing pretty good. I do experience very intense tingling at the bottom of my stump. Anyone have suggestions for this? I know my dr mentioned nerves firing and possibly going back in to fix it. Just wondering what others have experienced.

I still get PLP. Sometimes I just yell out. Sometimes it is the sensation that my foot is still there and the foot muscles are contracting. You mileage may vary!

I had my below the knee amputation done in December of 2014 and after the surgery I started doing mirror imaging. I would sit on the floor with a mirror about 12inches wide and 36 inches long, it was the only one I had, and I would put it between my leg and I would just look at my left leg in the mirror and scratch my foot, toes and I would even stretch my calf muscle and flex and rotate my ankle. I would at the same time mimicked those muscle movements on my right leg that was amputee and I could not believe how my amputee stump felt. I had so much relief by doing this. it actually felt like I was moving my right ankle.
