AS FOR THE DEMOCRAT CHOICE WHY WOULD HE CHOOSE SOME1 THAT HAS MADE RACIST REMARKS DONT LIKE EITHER BIDEN OR OBAMA
AS FOR THE REPUBLICAN CHOICE I FOR ONE THINK IT WAS BRILLIANT BECAUSE
1 IT TAKES McCAIN's age out because of Palin's age
2 she is a woman n obama fucked up by not chosing hiliary, they just got the better share of female voters
3 she has more expierence in leading
4 it'll mean more libreal n conserveative votes
5 MCCAIN/PALIN HAVE MY VOTE
say what you might I think it was brilliant n most deffinatley helped McCain and it could mean the election
The Vice President of The United States is an office which is has two constitutional duties:
1) President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be evenly divided" (Article I, section 3). In practice, the number of times vice presidents have exercised this right has varied greatly. John Adams holds the record at 29 votes, followed closely by John C. Calhoun with 28. Since the 1870s, however, no vice president has cast as many as 10 tie-breaking votes. While vice presidents have used their votes chiefly on legislative issues, they have also broken ties on the election of Senate officers, as well as on the appointment of committees in 1881 when the parties were evenly represented in the Senate.
2) The vice president's other constitutionally mandated duty is to receive from the states the tally of electoral ballots cast for president and vice president and to open the certificates "in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives," so that the total votes could be counted (Article II, section 1). Only a few happy vice presidents â?? John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Martin Van Buren, and George Bush â?? had the pleasure of announcing their own election as president. Many more were chagrined to announce the choice of some rival for the office.
Vice Presidents regularly attend cabinet meetings and receive executive assignments. Vice presidents represent their Presidents' administrations on Capitol Hill, serve on the National Security Council, chair special commissions, act as high level representatives of the government to foreign heads of state, and assume countless other chores â?? great and trivial â?? at the president's direction.
So, my thoughts on the two people chosen as Vice Presidential candidates â?? Really only matters if the President should not be able to complete their term for some reason.
It is refreshing that our Nation now has two classes of minorities represented at the top level. Senator Obama for the African Americans and Governor Palin for the women.
Biden as the Democratic candidate brings foreign policy experience to the White House. Palin as the Republican candidate brings in someone from outside Washington politics and who has demonstrated she is not afraid to â??ruffle feathersâ??.
It does not change my opinion, we do not have candidates who will bring America to the forefront as a great nation.
If I were to cast my ballot today, I would have an extremely tough time deciding who will serve the interest of the PEOPLE of the United States. While Palin has shown she is against raising taxes to fund pork barrel projects, she really would not weild any power to prevent it from happening. Biden is a Washington Insider and lives of the pork of the lobbyists. Heaven Help US.
I agree completely with the last person who wrote , innurmind, he has said, it like it is. I am the same place I would have an extrememly tough time today or on voting day to vote. I don't believe we have much of a difference in voting either party. I 've research all people running and I agree Heaven Help Us. If God doesn't intervien in this election , our United States will never be the same, as time you will see either party has the same agenta. We will go down and never be the great nation of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN AGAIN.Good job explaining the whole mess INNURMIND.
