Hi ladies, I have not posted on here for a very long time but, I read your postings all of the time. I'm the girl that has been doing the 24/7 caregiving job for a 95 year old dementia patient. I don't post because, I see so many that are taking care of husbands. Sadie is not a relative so I just didn't feel that I should post. Anyway, as a background here. My husband and I and my little yorkie have lived here for almost a year now. Sadie has been quite the eye opener for me. I have never cared for someone with dementia and really had no clue what I was getting into. I have been through many of the things that you post on here. The punching and kicking and biting and poop, poop and more poop. I was reaching a breaking point and was getting very depressed. I have fought this and I have been praying alot . Well, I went to pick up sadie at daycare and they told me that she had diarhea and was throwing up. I bought her home and each day after that she became weaker and weaker. She got to the point where she couldn't get out of the bed. She stopped talking and just moaned and made strange sounds. I let the family know all of these things. They would visit but, thought she would start to get better. She wouldn't eat or drink, that's when they finally called an ambulence to take her to the hospital. She stayed there for a week and came home yesterday. She had a urinary tract infection. I have been up all night with her. She does not open her eyes and her grandsons came over last night antryed to get her to eat and drink but, she won't. I think they finally realize that they can't keep trying to force food down her. They tryed and she was chooking. They aspirated her. Very scary. I've been listening and watching her all night. She is breathing very heavy and alot of mucous. I tryed to get rid of it but, it is too bad. So, I think this must be near the end. Anyone here know is this sounds like the end? Thanks everyone.
