It has been quiet on the board. It has been stable here at my house. Stable - meaning no BIG changes. I am deep in thought regarding
calling the VA social worker to inquire about my cost if (when) Ron
needs placement. There is a good VA facility about an hour from here. I'm not planning on a placement any time soon, but think I
should at least get informed.
I have, also, been enjoying some fabulous Fall days here in Iowa.
We are getting some much needed rain today. Nice, gentle kind.

Hi Deborah and Jamr, I'm so glad everything is quiet for you. Weather has been super here in Tennessee also. Jamr, I think you are wise to check out your options before it becomes necessary ( I hope it never does). On a lighter note, my Mom told me she is thinking of getting married again to one of the young men who works at the NH ! I said "mom, did he ask you to marry him?" She said "No, I was just thinking about it!" We had a good laugh anyway!

zzz, that is cute, my husband says funny things like that sometimes and I do have a laugh over it.

I think there are times during the year when there is so much going on we just don't quite find the time to get on here like we do when it's quieter. I know I go through these spells when everything seems to happen all at once.
Here the phone has been ringing off the hook all day, times like this make me think fondly of the days when we didn't have a phone out here or even a generator for electricity, it was so calm and peaceful and we did so much more together.

Deborah, that is uncanny. Yesterday Saturday my mom said the same thing to me. She wanted to work. She felt like she needs to do something and go some place. I tried to explain to her that she didin't need to work she has her retirement money coming in. She doesn't want to do it for the money. She just wants to do something. I didn't continue the conversation because I know that will not be happening and figured she would forget about it in the next few minutes anyway.Hope you are doing okay caregiver wise.Hang in there Deborah, I know you are doing a great job.

Talking about wanting to work, the nurses in Mom's NH told me Mom more or less adopted a lady that is staying there that has severe Trisomic (spelling). She calls Vicky, that's her name, her baby and pushes her wheel chair around, helps with her socks and pj, eating and such.

The nurses say that since Mom started taking 'care' of Vicky, Mom is a lot more at peace and seems to have accepted her surroundings a bit more.

So I guess it just boils down to wanting to feel needed and useful.

yes, everyone wants to feel needed, no matter what, how sweet that is of your mom, "helping'.

My mom has a lady that she takes care of also and what is so funny is that she knows the lady's name, she might not remember what day it is or that she lives there now but every time that lady comes wheeling up to us mom will say her she comes and calls out her name.
