Don't you wonder what life's lessons the little ones are taking from their exposure to their afflicted grandparent ?

Judy, I hope the lesson they are learning about compassion, patience and understanding that life isn't always fair. He also insists that someone hold Peepop's hand when we are out in public. He's 5 and half by the way.

When I was young I was afraid of my great grandmother's frailty but I think that is because it was handled differently. I think that people today are more open and willing to talk about what is wrong instead of 'shushing' the children up. We were kept in the dark about a lot of things.

My granddaughter called the other day and asked me, "How is Grandpa's brain today?" What she was getting at was, "Is it good enough that I can come and stay for awhile?" My grandchildren really miss their grandma. I can't do for them what I once could. I really miss them as well.

Where would we all be without the precious little ones. They are so intuitive and honest.
They know what really counts with no pretense.

same with pets, I rememer when my dear Dad was ever over at the end Our dog wouldn not leave his side , they know more than we do.

I remember when our granddaughter went to first grade and was riding the bus to school. They were living with us at the time and her "Pop" would wait in the front yard for the bus to drop her off after school.

She came home crying one day and told her mommy that the kids were "making fun at Pop" because he was in a wheelchair. He started waiting for her with our dog and before much longer all the kids on the bus were waving at him as she got off the bus. She has always been a very compassionate kid and always looking out for her Pop. Just a few days ago when he was so sick and had stopped taking his pills and eating or drinking for two days.......she came to visit (she is 23 now) and sat on my bed next to his hospital bed. She asked him "how are you feeling Pop?" He opened his eyes and smiled and told her "I'm hungry." Grandchildren are just wonderful!!!!

Yes, grandchildren are Gods reward for getting old. My little grandson Adam has Down Syndrome and Juveneille Diabetes. His number one man is his Papaw. He knows something is wrong,he will go find his glasses, or sometimes tell him to eat, or tell him to put on his seatbelt. He always has to sit beside him at meals, and sleep with him when hes here. He is such a sweetheart!!
