Deb I feel for you. But know that you have done everything possible to make his transition as peaceful and dignified as possible. I'm glad that you are able to take these moments to be close to him. And so happy that you have the help you will need in the days ahead.

I am so glad that you will have the support of Hospice.Let them take care of the details,and spend the remainder of the time you are given with your love.

I'm glad help has arrived, vigils are never easy, we went through it when my g-ma passed away. Keep up your strength. We are with you in spirit. Hugs.

I am so happy you are getting the help you need. Let the nurse do the physical care to allow you to breathe and just be present with Rollie. I am pretty sure that he senses your presence when you are near him. I have prayed for his release from pain and suffering. As the rest have said, Im glad help has finally arrived for you. I hope that Rollie goes home very peacefully, and Im sure Hospice will help keep him comfortable.

Deb, so glad you have Hospice there with you as they are wonderfully supportive. You are such a wonderful wife, lying there with him reading showing your love in every way. Rollie has been blessed with you. May his final phase of the journey not linger and he go in serenity . And may you have the peace of knowing you did exactly the right things at the right time. I can hardly see to type as the tears just won't stop. this is all just soo soo sad and yet we should be happy they are going to get their release from all this suffering. I also tried laying in bed with Carl to calm him as he was thrashing about so 2 days before he died. His last36 hrs. were peaceful sleep. I pray it is so for rollie and Ken.

I'm so happy that hospice nurses will be there to take care of Rollie so that you can just be there with him.

I also got into such a crying jag when I heard about Sheri and Rob, Sharon and Ken and Deb and Rollie that I couldn't stop...finally had to go write a journal entry and I was still crying. This is so sad, the suffering is indescribable.....and we know there has to be an end to it...but......

I'm so very glad you're getting the help you need, Deb. Hospice is so wonderful. Such kind, caring people. I wanted to get up on the bed with my ex too. The nurses wouldn't let me so I read on the bed next to him and he seemed to like that ....... through the morphine. Then they'd kick me out. Very strict hospice care hours in that hospital but they made it as peaceful as possible for him.

I know some of my thoughts are stranger than most but I found the passing of my Dad, my husband and my best friend very natural and calm. It seemed to me to be the order of things in a way that was beyond our control. I don't know where that feeling came from but I'm grateful I had it. Of course, I mourned and I miss them all very much still but I remember the feeling of calm. 12 years later I still miss having coffee in the morning with my husband. It never goes away.

Rollie slept very peacefully through the night and is still sleeping, his breathing is quiet and he has a calm look on his face. Hopefully he will simply drift off this way.
