Ever since I was diagnosed with Alzheimers I seem to be having some extremely weird dreams and nightmares which have been getting progressively worse and far more vivid so much so you can get to the point of thinking was it reality or was it a dream?
Sometimes the nightmares can be extremely horrific and vivid I start screaming and shouting in my sleep with my arms and legs lashing out as though Im trying to defend myself but from what, I dont know when this happens than my dear wife Sumi has to wake me up otherwise I could hurt her or send ornaments flying but then once I am awake I have no recollection of whats happened, if Im lucky I can drift back of to sleep but the nightmares return all over again, and there doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why sometimes I can go for two weeks or more without any nightmares then all of a sudden they start again with vengeance and one thing for sure is that it all becomes very frightening and disconcerting for the confused mind
No matter what Ive done to try and overcome the problem nothing has helped me Ive tried warm night time drinks, body massage, sleeping tablets yet still the problem persists so not only do the nightmares affect my nights sleeping pattern they also disturbed Sumi who has to try and calm me down
Quiet often when this happens I just cant get back to sleep so get up and sit working at the computer at ONE in the morning to avert my mind from what I call the horrors of my Alzheimers nights

She's sleeping much better now and seems to have gone beyond that scary horrible phase. Now she dreams of playing golf with my dad a lot. She loves those.
