golf trophy collection down to 5. Went through his closet -got rid of everything over 5 years old and anything he did not/could not wear now... including 5 pair of golf shoes and 10 other pairs. Now I need
to attack his collection of papers OMG! What a pile. Every award or
certificate , loan papers for a 1963 Pontiac... you get the idea ?? :-D
I am,also, not renewing his membership in several clubs. I'll keep the VFW and Am Legion only since they meant a lot to him.
Now - if I could only do the same for me... I need to pare down
my cookware/bakeware/kitchen gadget collection.
Deb - I think you are correct in closing the computer accounts, as they can be potential problems.
I take it the kids aren't much help with their dad ? How sad.

This morning I had to use this extremely long pole he thought he was going to make a flag pole out of to rescue a cat from a tree and he got upset because I moved his pole. I'm afraid I snarled a bit at him since the cat had been in the tree for over 24 hours and I'd done just about everything I could think of to get her down.
But back to weeding things out. I've been working toward getting rid of everything that he no longer uses or would not notice if it disappears. Part of that is just to make things easier for me but also because I know the day will come when he'll be gone and I'll need to go through his stuff and what is just weeding out junk now will be very traumatic once he's gone.
I get emotional when I go through my husband's things, seeing his handwriting which used to be so beautiful and now he can hardly write his own name. But I think that letting go slowly like this, shedding tears here and there might make it easier in the long run but I guess I won't really know until I get there.
fatigue and frustration. So it is not so hard to start to pare down
my husb's belongings. I have a little jewelry box that I keep my favorite things - a few pictures, a letter, the first piece of jewelry he gave me... etc. I'm giving some of his treasured items
to the kids and grandkids. I'm not 'moving' him out by any means..
( he has SO much stuff)... Just cleaning and clearing.
Deb, it is a shame his daughters feel like they do. If they don't want to be a part of his life - just accept it. That door swings two ways.
95% of the time I am 'over' his daughters but every once in awhile it bugs me. It is hard for me to accept that humans can be mean to other humans especially family but i know it happens everyday.
I see my Mom loosing a little more of her personality each day and it's just heart breaking and somewhere way down inside of her she realizes it also.
My Mom and I were on a rocky road and sometimes we would not speak to each for months at a time, but this is not how I wanted her to end her days.
