The comment about early onset was interesting helped me understand some of the things Ken is staring to do.
I knew he was going to get worse as time passed but, I have been able to maintain my state of mind . With the huge changes in the last week it has taken it's toll on me.
I have had nursing home in the back of my mind for some time but, like you I can't bring myself to do it. I also would like to keep him at home if at all possible.
As guilty as I feel about putting in in I don't know if I have the skill, patience, or strength to keep him with me for another 10 years.
He is so confused, wonders around all day talking to people that are not there. He doesn't recolonize me 1% of the time.
I am at odds about not feeding him, he now shoves his food on the table or floor and will hardly let me give him even the smallest of portions.
I know we have all talked about what we will do when this time comes and I thought I was ready but it is very difficult not to feed him and just sit by and watch. On the other hand I do not want him to continue in this void of a so called life.
Thanks for sharing.
Deb - Your Dr visit was very productive. I'm glad he is so tuned into your needs as well as Rollie's. Lots of good information there for all of us.
I believe it is taking it course, But, you were right it is a hard thing to do.
Not to long ago I could at least get the fork in his hand and he would make a stab at , now he won't even make an attempt at eating.
I'm sure he will do like Ron and go back and forth I'll just go with what ever he wants.
