We met with my husband's regular doctor today (what a long day it is the drive to the VA and then the drive back). It was just a 'where is he now' kind of visit. This time however I was prepared, instead of relying on my memory I made an index card and wrote everything down in simple sentences and handed it to the doctor. He typed everything into my husband's file, that made things a little less awkward. I don't like talking ABOUT my husband in front of my husband. He gave my husband the Mini Mental test and oh, boy, he did not do well. I'm not surprised, just saddened. He actually started getting mad at the doctor for asking him 'those kinds of questions'. You know, personal questions like what year is this, when is your birthday, what season is this......he didn't know what kind of building he was in, how he got there or what floor he was on. So no surprises just confirmation on what I already knew.
I feel the same way about discussing Ken while he's sitting right there.
I know he doesn't understand but, it still bothers me.
I think none of us are surprised how the visit will go but, none the less it still hurts.
What did they say about you stopping the meds ?
I always feel a little down after a Dr. visit . I know it just confirms what I already know.. but is more "official".
valid reason to stay on them.
Our primary (private) Dr. was the one who said to stop them they weren't helping any longer.
I am not giving Ron any more heavy duty meds. I'm staying with the Ativan for Sundowning... but that's all.
