Have been dealing with this disease for what seems like forever. Placed my husband in assisted living 9 months ago. Would love to connect for some other quasi widows to support each other

Hello

I put my Mom into Assisted Living about 4 years ago.
The first month or so, she had a hard time adjusting , but eventually began to enjoy herself.

Sadly, she had to be moved to the other side of the facility, for greater care , as she was no longer able to care for herself in her apartment she had at the A/L Facility.

Now Mom is in a Skilled Nursing Home, and shares a room with 3 other people.
Mom's condition got too severe for A/L Facility...and the A/L facility was eating up her monies.

This disease is a destroyer ... I'm sorry you have to go through this

My mom has been in a nursing home for a year now and at first, she loved it, all the people and attention. Now she does not like anyone, and is suspicious of everyone and everything. Her dementia is getting worse and her paranoia is horrible.

I still love her no matter what she says but it is hard emotionally, hope you get some relief from family or friends. We are always here to talk to.

Almost everyone of us has to go through this once in our life and we are helpless about this situation. I tried hard to keep my mom at her home by staying with her as much as possible, making sure that someone is always with her and even installing medical alarms ( http://www.myalarmcare.com/ ) at her home.
But then after a stage things goes out of our hand and we are desperate to make this choice.

Summer you should check out the caregivers group. That is mostly spouses so you may find the support you are looking for.

Jazz will they give your mom anything for the paranoia? My mom has hallucinations and paranoia but the staff said its manageable so we are waiting on those meds. They are starting her on lexapro for anxiety. Hoping to take the edge off so she can be happier.
