We went to Burger King and Baskin Robbins today because it is my grandson's BD (his choices, LOL).
At BK wrapped Rollie's burger nice and tight for him and put it in his hands, wrapped his fingers around like I usually do, But that wasn't enough, he just couldn't quite manage it and it ended falling apart.
At Baskin Robbins I got him a single scoop on a cone, well, that didn't work out either so I asked them for a cup and a spoon and transferred the ice cream to the cup- that he could manage.
I told my daughter I am going to make an ALZ bag (like a diaper bag for a baby). I am going to put in some depends, a change of clothes, wipes, a plastic plate, fork, knife, spoon, (sometimes food at restaurant just isn't easily turned into finger foods so that way I can always have a plate I can cut things on into bite size pieces) maybe a cup,
Anything else I should include? Other ideas?

His absolute favorite was the chocolate frosty., but, he can't figure out out to work the spoon and hold the cup. So far is doing great with cone.
Ken also has to have the sandwich put in his hand. Some times he acts like threes nothing there and just drops it.

I'm also thinking about a sippy cup. One that doesn't spill. Oh.. then he would have to suck..... that may not work either.
napkins. I have , also, started getting his ice cream in a cup. I have to get him started with a few bites then he can take over. I keep a couple plastic grocery bags under the seat, too. Never know what use I might find for those.
The last hamburger I got Ron to eat in the car was awful. He held it for the longest time then squished it into goo.. I am going 70 mph on the four-lane and watching in horror.
The car is becoming a mini- house :-D All we need is a commode and a portable shower :-)
I think when we reach this point I would also like to include some of those bibs like we used to have at one of the nursing homes I worked at. They did not tie around the neck but slipped on something like a shirt but with the opening in the back and were long enough to reach the waist/lap so that most drips and dribbles did not get on the clothing.
I would also put in a lap robe (along with a spare jacket) for those times when he get's cold. There are many times when even fully dressed with shoes and a jacket Neal is colder then I am and wants the heater on and I'm just cooking even if I'm in shorts and cooler clothes. having a lap robe might help hold off on that cranking the heat thing.
I had not really thought to much about this because given a choice he never leaves the house and the last few times I've suggested eating at a resturant he has told me he's not hungry (course that changed as soon as we got home) so I'm thinking now that he has some fears or concerns about eating in public or maybe just being in public which he is increasingly reluctent to do.
Paper towels!!!!!!!! I have a roll in every room plus the car.
I have: Handi-wipes, Kleenex, hoodie, plastic bags, umbrella, sunglasses, Poise (Mother likes the name better than Depends),
I now will put in: Picnic items and a tray. Love the tray idea!
