OMG how awful. I just don't know what to say other than hopefully this strange behaviour stops. My Mom was wandering all night too but that was before she lost her ability to stand, Now she is in a wheel chair all the time and cannot respond to anything you say or ask her to do. She also lost her speech in the last 3 to 4 months. So there is absolutely no communication with her.

And since our last visit, which was last week, she does not seem to be able to sit properly either. So now she is tilted back far into the chair so that she does not slip down from it.

For her sake I hope it ends soon.

Each regression is one step closer.
Sometimes we wonder if it is closer to our own insanity..

...all of a sudden my guy has lost all train of thought on everything. I really don't get it..what happened. He looks at his pills and say what do you want me to do with this ..and then throws them in the water. Forgot how to use the toilet , wants to sit for everthing or just stand in his clothes and go without wiping it out. Can not dress himself at all. can barely eat. For some reson his nose is running all the time, i don't mean stuffy I mean actually dripping ...he is really totally lost and oblivious to what is going on around him.

I too am lost right now.

Deborah and sherbear...I'm sorry to here about your latest dilemmas.
I'm really sorry also because I don't think I am far behind you.
Mine still goes to the bathroom OK but he just doesn't get anything.
I give him his pills (that I give him everyday) and he ALWAYS says, would you look at that basket of pills!
In the evening I give him his tramadol right before supper. About 3 bites into supper he says...did you give me my tramadol tonight.
The thing that drives me mad is his never-ending chatter. He is talking about something all the time but he has no volume tohis voice anymore and I can't hear half of what he is saying. That, and the fact that he is unable to do anything anymore physically, so he is "helping" me by telling me everything that needs done. I HATE to be told what to do! He thinks of things for me to do faster than I can do them. I'm getting short with him again because of this so I either need to get his meds changed or mine! I'd love to give him a sleeping pill to keep him from getting up all hours of the night, but he falls so much now, I'm afraid it will increase his chances of falling more. I'm sure not looking forward to his peeing and pooping all over the place, you guys have to be saints! God help us all, please.

forgot to mention Sherbear, that his runny nose could be from allergies. right now with the flowers and trees blooming, the allergies are very bad. Ask the Dr. if you can give him some claritin to help that.
I have been taking it for years. I take one in the morning and I do buy the generic loratadine 10mg. Works like a charm for me but have heard it does nothing for others. There are bunches of allergy meds out there. Good luck.

Deborah , your husband sure had a lot of changes in a short period of time. Must be terribly difficult for you.
My husband was doing pretty good, but the past week, he has become more confused. We had company over Easter, and he couldn't get it straight who was coming, what meals they were staying for, etc. He still is walking ok, and eating ok, but when he is telling me something I don't know what he is talking about. Sometimes I can guess. He still uses the toilet ok, thank heavens. I think he is in stage 5, but not sure. Doris

Sadie does the same thing. She wakes up and starts wandering around and playing with things in her room. I have the baby monitor on in my bedroom. It is so bizarre. She has started to be afraid to sit down on the toilet seat, like she is going to fall. I keep saying I've got you and then try to get her tosit and that's when she tries to punch me.Do any of you girls have the punching and kicking and biting? Do they think that dead people from the past are alive? I don't want to say they are dead because that makes her upset. Yes, she talks to someone next to her that really isn't there. Oh my...

Sherri & Deb, You keep changing your avatars on me and I am totally confused but then it doesn't take much to confuse me....lol. Are your guys in a hospital bed with side rails? Maybe that would help keeping them in bed at night. Medicare provided one for my hubby and it has automatic controls that elevates head and knees and also has high and low controls. It has made caring for my hubby so much easier. I only had the half side rails and he did manage to get out of bed one night. I plan on getting his family doctor to write a prescription for full side rails so that doesn't happen again.

I also thought my Tom was about a 6 going into 7 but he has improved so dramatically since so many of the medications he was taking have been discontinued. I know that it may only be temporary but it feels like I have my hubby back if only for a while.

Grammyx3........the nose isn't from allergies it actually drips out ...kind of like when someone drools only its through his nose and it has been for a while. Someone told me that this sometimes happens when the fluids in the body are out of control. Who knows anything anymore..not me. I feel like I am running on empty. As far as a hospital bed I don't think we need one , Rob doesn't gte up at night as a rule except to try and go to the bathroom and if he was in a hospital bed he would probably fall over the railing trying to get out.

So we saw his burn doctor, his regular doctor and his palliative care doctor today, long, long day. The burn is healing very well, and looks like it should, that was good news. His regular doctor said I can increase his zyprexa to make him sleep better. and the palliative care doctor says the VA criteria for hospice is simple, when he can't walk anymore, not sure what that means.
i guess that means when he is on deaths door.

Years ago I had a strange sinus infection that that same thing happened to me. I remember ironing curtains to hang in the house we just moved into and my nose would drip uncontollably.

Could have nothing to do with sinus, just thought I'd throw that out there. He sure is having a lot of changes lately and I know its hard to deal with.

it is all so difficult and each day seems to bring new steps down that increase what has to be dealt with...and we do,,,and it wears us thin...well not actually that might be a plus....

Thin? I wish it was wearing me thin, LOL. I'm so overweight because the stress makes me snack, ha ha. But I am not belittling your comment, yes, we are stretched thin.

Deborah, how on earth did you do 3 doctors in one day? We do 1 at a time, and if I can only one a week. It is such a hassle . Doris

I planned it that way because we live in a rural area so I would rather make it one long exhausting day then make 3 trips down the mountain.
