Oops, anyway, what I meant to post is, I just read that 72% of caregivers express 'relief' when their loved one dies. This in the Alzheimer's Association pamphlet available on their website. The dollar value of unpaid caregivers is $143,899,563,806 in the US. It's a tough job we're doing and I share this to actually help us understand that the feelings we have are normal considering the burden we are carrying.

When Ron went to hospice I felt a huge , huge feeling of relief. I even had a cry-baby day.. I think it was the acknowledgment of how hard it had been and I didn't have to do it anymore. Along with the relief came a big dose of guilt for feeling the relief.

What a merry-go-round we on on.
