Note: where I worked (in a large Retail Department Store),I often accompanied elderly ladies to the rest rooms.
As long as the person in question can handle their own clean up etc...
At first I would explain to a male going in, no one turned me down were very nice about , help with the hand washing and walked him out.
When I would use the womens I would wait until it cleared and someone would watch the door, But, I have also walked in and spoke load enough to explain that I had a male in the bathroom and why, I have never had a bad reaction from any ladies. The only thing I was careful about was tthe younger girls.
Once we flew back on an over night from Hawii into LAX. Ken had to go so bad , i explained to the porter she cleared out the ladies bathroom and we did our thing. I gave her a good tip.
The only big problem we had when flying was durning flight because I couldn't go in wth him and and really had a tough time .
Guess I don't have to worry about that anymore.
I found that most people are very helpful when you explain the situation.
if we are out at movie or play, anticipate intermission and get all completed about 7 in before intermission.
So far if any women have seen us, no one has said anything.
And I figure the ladies room has all closed private stalls.
Besides it is 2010! I think if anyone said anything I would explain, but so far, with being watchful of others and knowing all the single rooms on or trips in known territiry, all has worked out so far.
Good luck.
