Alopecia areata ("baldness in spots") is a form of hair loss from areas of the body, usually from the scalp. Because it causes bald spots on the head especially in the first stages, it is also called spot baldness. Hair loss can extend to eyebrows, eyelashes and facial and nasal hair and create more bald spots elsewhere in the body.

I have alopecia areata since i was about 4 years old. It started like a small spot but it grew with years. My hair were always falling out in winter time and partly growing back in summer. With years it came to the point i was completely bald. I was so so sad and it was a shok for me. But i was in primary school so kids were not mean. Some pointed at me and laughed but they were still nice to me and excepted me. When i was 13 years old my hair started growing back. I was happy and excited. They grew and grew (not all over just on the top). After two years my hair could cover the bald parts of my head. I finally look normal i thought. But everything nice ends one day. My hair started falling out again. Now i have lost more than 3/4 of my hair and i will be completely bald in a couple of monts. I thought that it will be easier for me because i went through this proces before in my youth but im so scared because i am going to highschool in 2 months and i wont know anybody. I know that people there can be a lot more mean than little kids in primary school. Im scared that they wont excepted me and that im gonna be a wirdo for them. Should i wear a wig or go completely bald...? I dont know what im going to do...please help i would realy appreciate an advice!!

I totally understand your worries..
It's been 12 years that i'm wearing a wig and I just begin to accept my situation.
I've noticed the first signs of alopecia when I was 13, at 18 I was wearing a wig..
My family and I had no idea what is going on, as well as many of doctors I have seen...At the time when I finally realized that my hear will never grow back, I had no wish to see my friends any more, I just started hiding and closing myself from the world.
I was trying to avoid any contact from my "old group" of friends and now when I look back, I realize that didn't even give them a chance to accept me the way I am.. so for a long time I was leaving with regret and nostalgia for the good old days.
Leaving with alopecia it's challenge, but when I look back I see that it made me stronger as a personality.
I'm hiding my boldness with a wig and my biggest challenge for the moment is to gather some courage to just go outside without it...
I truly believe people are worth being given a chance, only then they can surprise you nicely...
