This is a story that should be in a bad B-Movie, but somehow it is real.
It started over ten years ago when a new co-worker joined our group. She had left her last job when her boss won the sexual harassment case. In the time I knew her, which was less than a year, she was stalked and attacked by her ex, her 6 year old son was attacked by neighborhood bullies with broken beer bottles and needed four surgeries, had her car stolen, and lastly slipped on a freshly mopped floor at work and fell breaking her tailbone.
Over the next year I heard occasional updates on her from other co-workers. She wound up in a wheelchair, living with her mother supporting her and her three boys. Medical bills lost her mom her house. Then some good news, her lawsuit against the company for her injury settled out of court for $2 million.... and a month later a drunk driver killed her and her kids.
Two months after that I got word that a friend of mine was dying of breast cancer... a month after that I was T-boned while driving.. over the few months saw : my spine crushed from a horse accident, hubby losing his job (and has not held one for more than 6 months since), two of my horses dead, and other things I choose not to remember. That all started in '04? My luck has stayed the same over the years. I have had multiple surgeries that I refuse to remember. Cancer. Black mold in my first house. Lost my ability to work. Can't get my book published. Health is shot, hubby is dying of depression right along with me.
As long as this luck does not move to my daughter when I die, it will be ok.

I've been too busy, for me, now I'm paying. Life has changed so much. I'd like to write a book about this journey of pain. Do you guys ever ask, "Why me?" I admit I can get caught in that trap when the pain is so severe. I was home alone yesterday. I ended up on the floor, and could not get up. That's a first. I was trying to get up for twenty minutes, now my knees and foot(where I had surgery) are so painful. It was an eye opener. I was starting to panic. I thought of rolling into my living room to get the phone, but it wasn't within reach. Now, I'd say that's a change.
And we did get a lot of rain the other day-water marked in one area of our yard showed the water had been atleast 4 inches deep and the church around the corner-the building sits in a gully and their water marks showed the water had been atleast a foot deep!
So gad you didn't get any damage from flash flooding. We have had such unusual weather this year!

How is everybody today. My day is insanely busy, staring at noon, ending late in the evening. That is, if I can make it. My husband always has these events we need to attend. I tell, you one thing, I am wearing sensible shoes!
Darkness, thank you for the healing thoughts and hugs. I so, so appreciate both! I, too, hope I can get back to the Y next week. I miss the people there. Such a funny eclectic group of mostly women.

As long as you can slither/crawl to a chair and crawl up into it-then don't be too panicked about the thought of ending up on the floor-except for trynig not to hurt anything in your landing :)

It's so humid here today, don't do well on those days. But, what's a girl to do? The weather just doesn't cater to me. If it did it would be 76 and blue skies, with the occasional rain storm and three weeks of snow during Christmas. :O)
DOes an inflatable ark count? As soon as I can find one :p
