My son is 11 and has also had similar problems with depression. He went into an inpatient treatment facility in Februrary, and it was very difficult for everyone. We all missed each other so much. I wanted to just drive over there and bring him home. But, as my boyfriend said, "Don't take the cake out of the oven before it is done!" I waited until the doc said he was ready. And, like you said, it helped. He has been doing really well. Although bad days are normal, overall he feels better. He used to pull his hair and eyelashes. He has almost completely stopped. Briefly, he did relapse and we thought he was going to have to go back for a while, but a med change helped him and he came out of it.
Things will get better, but listen to yourself. It sounds like you know yourself and you "own" your problems. Which, is a sign of true maturity. If you feel you shouldn't watch Dr. Drew, then maybe you shouldn't. If you feel you are starting to relapse, maybe you should at least talk to a doc or crisis counselor and get another opinion. Like I said, listen to yourself. It sounds like you are very in tune with your emotions. My son is the same way. He knows when he needs help and he tells me.
Things will get better.

I suppose you're all right. I just have so much fear that i'm going to relapse because if I do, i'm pretty much screwed. I'm going to New York University in the fall and if i do relapse its pretty much putting my whole future on the line. This whole depression business already screwed up my entire last semester of high school, and I regret it so much. I can't even imagine messing up my college plans over it.
