yep, that's the Melbourne City meeting on everyday at 7.30 am - I have been on it before and is a fantastic meeting, a couple of people I have met go to that one, and my friend that lives in Texas also attends.

Will go on tomorrow and see if I can see your little face :), if so, will send you a private chat on the meeting so we can get excited that we can see other and get past DS posts/messages - yay, looking forward to it.

And, you had the trigger and now walking the hill country, sounds beautiful, smart thinking 99 - 1st thought was the trigger, 2nd thought was the walk - that's the way it's done, so proud of you - next time, post a pic in your journal so we can see the walk :)

Nomo, walking saved me. I discovered more about myself in the first year of sobriety on my daily walks than my whole life before. They are dear to me now and where I feel my true self emerge. Such a great gift to give yourself.!!

I too am a walker, about 50 minutes each and every morning. It saves me from the spiral of depression. Bill W. was a walker, too. See his 1960 letter, "Walking Toward Serenity," on page 92, in "As Bill Sees It."

Ri, I checked out that page in the book, I loved how he concentrated on the breathing

"The walking and especially the breathing were powerful affirmations towards life and living and away from failure and death."

Excellent; thanks. I am over 11 1/2 years sober and I struggled for a few years with hearing things at my meetings like "a life second to none" and "happy, joyous and free." I could not quite grasp what was wrong with me. I started to read about Bill W. and how his emotions in sobriety were not really as he presented them in the Big Book...he is FOUR years sober in 1939...and in the 12 and 12...he is 17 years sober in 1952...sure enough, he battles depression for much of his sobriety. In the index in the front of "As Bill Sees It" there are seven entries on depression. I guess I am in good company.

Ri, I hadn’t even looked at the index, but just did and wow “ I used to be ashamed of my condition and so didn’t talk about it. But nowadays I freely confess I am a depressive, and this has attracted other depressives to me. Working with them has helped a great deal” Now I know why I am so drawn to Bill - I too suffer from depression, again, there are no coincidences- I keep saying this a lot lately. I am so glad to find someone that enjoys discussing Bill, I am fascinated by his story, his history, and by him, and appreciate you sharing with me.
