Husban n I used to work all day together on a project, drinking our way through, doing crappy sloppy work, occasionally getting into a stupid booze-fight, occasionally getting something done... and then cap the day off with Wings and Yings at our favorite local bar... I would pretty much be toasted by the time we bellied up to the bar booth... I would talk and laugh with Mel the bartender a little (I'm shy)
Well, times have changed... we painted all day together, at our newly acquired nightmare, I mean, rental unit... 10 hours together, just me and him, and 8 plaster walls, 2000 termites, 5 gallons of paint, and a couple pots of coffee... It's funny, the quality of work has really shot up, it's like we're Bob friggin' VILLA now! The fights are nipped in the bud too, we actually both of us, we actually think before we excalate little stuff into enourmous stuff... It's like, your brain works better without all that... help... not to mention yer marriage...
So tonight when we had finished working and we're dirty, grimey, achey, but the good kind of achey... and he says, hey, you wanna get wings? We haven't gone out for wings in... 9 months? I was all.. ummmmm... I don't know.... I didn't want to see the inside of that bar... I didn't want to face Mel, and she says, "the usual?" and reaches for the Ying tap... But I sucked it up, onaccounta the wings are AWESOME, and we went in, Mel took one look at us, smiled, and reached for the tap, and I said, oh, you know, I'll have a sprite, and hubz said a coke, and Mel looked a bit perplexed for a split second, but then it passed and she smiled and remembered what kind of sauce we like on our wings... I asked about her daughter, she asked about our kids... Hubz and I sat in a booth and talked and laughed and he tried to keep from glueing his eyes to the football games on the 32 TV screens... and THERE YOU HAVE IT...
I consider that a big one. Working all day with that particular man, and then being able to sit in that bar and enjoy something I used to be able to enjoy... But in a much better place now. Or rather, the place is the same, but I'm different.
Sorry, Sprite n Wings make me all philosophical... just wanted to share another small victory... keep 'em comin', Lord...

I didnt know you could paint away termites though! I gotta try that.
Last night, I went to a local Mexican restaurant where i used to get very drunk. The waiters there used to automatically bring me a large margarita.....now they're nice enough to ask before I order my ice-tea!
It's a beautiful thing...very very cool. yay you!
