Your predicting whats going to happen? You might drink and die for that matter. We never know what can happen to us when we drink. It's been a hard day but be very thankful it's over now. Kick back and relax, watch tv or call someone to talk it out. If you can, get to a meeting, but please the drink ain't worth the trouble and then if you drink you'll probably be greeted by a big ole hangover in the morning and then you got to go to work and suffer too. I bet it would be another bad day at work then. Think this through please.

Believe me!! I do know I will not drink tonite!! I fought this all last week. it is very hard to fite the urges, and I thank you for your support!! And u are right hangovers make a day very bad!!

Have you tried working the steps? I know I'm slacking on my program when I get the cravings. By working the steps on a daily basis those cravings just don't come. Because my problem is life that's why I drink. I'll fix life and my unmanageability with either 2 things, 1. A whole lot of alcohol or drugs or 2. the steps. It's not a question of believing in a higher power. We have to just remove the things that have been blocking us. By removing the things that block us, we live in a spiritually awakened state where it is impossible for the thought of a drink to come into our mind. It just isn't possible for our minds to take us to the past or present when we're spiritually awake and totally in the present moment. Just like any relationship, we're responsible for 50 % of the work. God's not going to do for us what we can do for ourselves and rob us of our personal experience. We don't just get touched and are magically healed. We have to work for it and total time sober means nothing. What matters is our spiritual status. Don't confuse spiritual status with religion. It's about practicing these principles IN ALL OUR AFFAIRS. The meetings and church is just 1-2 hours a week. It's the rest of the time we have be vigilant about.

lucky for me i have not had any urges to drink..... and glad for it....... yet i too do not want to be controlled by the drink either..... thanks for sharing and know that we who pray not to drink, might not after all.......

thank you all so much. bill thanks for the great wisdom i definately do believe in God, and I know drunkards will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. I am reading the big book (AA) but this is my support group, your messages and ya'll just being there coupled with prayer determination and the book are seeing me thru. don't go away. thanks ya'll

It is Wednesday Morning. I got to say my morning prayers with out a hangover AGAIN!!
I have learned no matter how hard the struggle not to drink is, the feelings of accomplishment the next morning are so much better!!

Sounds like you thought the drink through! Awesome! I don't think about drinking anymore as an option. It has been removed by my HP.

Just sounds like a crappy day at work. I also thank God daily for my sobriety and removing my obsession to drink.

I had a bad day Saturday and went to a meeting and asked for help and poof it was gone! Total attitude adjustment!

Ask God to remove your obsession to drink daily and one day it will be gone completely. I really thought the suggestions in AA were ridiculous until I tried them.

That is great news to hear that you didnt pick up a drink and look you made it through 24 hours...just do 24 hours at a time and if you have to min by min....the cravings will get more far and in between but as long as you try to keep your self busy it should pass....
