Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Tomorrow morning take a few minutes to write down your feelings and the what you think might have caused your relapse in either in your DS journal or a notebook. Journaling on a regular basis is an effective tool for us to recognize our own behavioral patterns and head off potentially harmful actions in the future. If your journaling on DS and have it open to friends, they can also lend support and advice.
Then look online for an AA meeting in your area. Select a location you like, go to the meeting a few times and find someone you click with who is willing to be your sponsor. I think this kind of personal support would be very beneficial to you Rich.
It's always a little unnerving the first time you go to an AA meeting, not knowing anyone there and what they might think or say. But believe me, those attending have all been exactly where you've been before. We all have. Most likely you will be welcomed with open arms. Just take a buck with you, as it's customary to pitch in for the coffee or room rental.
There are some other community-based groups available that Andrea and others are more knowledgeable on, so I will defer to these friends on this topic.
Wishing you the best on this new start!
Robert
