Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
From exp. I know it works.
I can totally get down with the rest. My third year I haven't missed a morning on my knees with the 3rd step prayer.
Have a great day G. lates
Goodnight gjm, what a great thread to end my day :}
I used to pray often but stopped when I relapsed. If I thought of God, it worsened the guilt and shame I was already feeling and I might have to do something about my drinking. I didn't want to. I definitely chose alcohol over God for a long time. I returned to God when He saw fit.
Yes, it does work.

I don't know whether I am sorry, whether I will err again, what my intentions are, whether I am sane or insane. I don't know what it is that I need or want. I don't know what I believe even. But I just know "God" is there and that comforts me to tears. I know when I have been in pain and NEED God.
Other days I cannot even look at God... so much guilt and shame. Those days I say words I know to be prayers but feel nothing. It is penance maybe. I dunno. I am trying.
I am new here.
I pray every single night since I was little. Each time asking for forgiveness for my sins and weakness (among other). Prayer to me is the one thing that gets me through the day - even I succumb to temptation or not.
good post,
Billy
the only thing that guides you is an end. and not knowing the end strengthens the quest.
i know the end. my quest remains the same.
