Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

And yes, there are many who, while never admitting the word perfect, certainly act it. I know of one man who is very boastful about his sobriety in meetings, and how wonderful his life is, yet I also know him to be abusive to women in his life. To me, that is not a case of someone "using all these principles in all their affairs". (Probably screwed up the quote, haven't finished my first cup of coffee yet)
I am drawn to the people who will admit they sometimes struggle, that at time they wonder about their HP, they don't tell me what I should do based on their experience, they share their experience and let me draw my own conclusions.
There is no one with perfect sobriety, and if they act like there is, it is a red flag for me to stay away!
Hugs,
Karen
Sober thinking can behard to maintain at times- I've slipped off into another addiction here recently - nothing bad - but because i allowed the "addiction" thinking to take over - i saw myself in a self-destructive manner - which could've led to bad had not recognized, stopped and taken action-
Not that it would've led me to drinking or drugging- THAT AINT GONNA HAPPEN - but active addiction of any time, isn't healthy IMO, but the thinking and justifying and making excuses to myself - is where i see the pattern setting itself up -
I believe that someone can be "sober" but i think "recovery" and "maintenance" are the key factors and we sometimes wander from those paths too -
Yes DT you are so right that even those with many years of not drinking still have issues - actually some of this addictive thinking and behavior is co-dependent driven.
Addiction - what a mess it is - but oh well it is what is - no damage done here - could've been but not -
I love Dreamy's saying STINKING THINKING - that's what I now call anything type of thinking that throws me off track!
Peace!
it's a old dude
I think he is dead
P.S. there are more...just only mentioning the folks who have participated in this thread that I "know" and believe are "old timers" lol!
