Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

This time I found help in the rooms of aa and took a look at the causes and why I HAD to drink. It was basically fear and a feeling of not worthy / enough. I had some help from others to realize I simply process alcohol differently and I’m not a bad person , just alcoholic.
This time my last drink was June 9,2012. It’s been over 6 years. I went to a meeting today and honestly think I would be drunk or dead without a group of other recovering drinkers to lean on. See I get crazy thoughts and then I drink. Today I get crazy thoughts and call someone and vent and then a day goes by and I didn’t drink and things get better.
It takes the power of booze away and let’s me make a choice to stay sober. Life still happens and instead of hiding in a bottle I go to a meeting.

How do you deal with the underlying reasons for needing to booze so hard? The key for me was to find something to replace the booze.
If you feel you need it then talk to your doctor who can give you a referral if he thinks it will help you. Your doctor is in a better position to discus treatment options with you. Keep us posted.
