Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I am 8 months sober. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions, but I'm so happy and blessed to be sober today. I've been struggling the last couple of weeks. I feel extremely overwhelmed in my career. I've also been extremely tired and lathargic. I can't tell if this is a result of PAWS, depression, anxiety, all three, or something else.
I've been a lot more active and open in AA the past few weeks. I see a counselor every other week and I am doing step work with my sponsor. I have a demanding job that I stress about and there are some things going on with my family.
I need to get back into meditating and working out every day. I know it be sounds so easy, but there's a block that's stopping me. I can't explain just how tired I'm feeling all the time. I am getting 7-9 hours of sleep at night, but it still doesn't feel like enough. I slept most of the weekend and feel lazy.
I feel like all the energy has been completely drained from my body. I just want to have a little bit of energy so I can do the things I need to do to stay healthy. To be honest, what little energy I have is going into trying to stay afloat at work.
I just want to get my drive back and stop getting like a lazy POS.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

It cant hurt to get all multivitamines in morning daily taking a pill.
Have you seen a doctor? There are all sorts of easily treatable medical conditions that may be the cause of your tiredness.
It is good that you are becoming more open and doing step work with your sponsor. Remember that having knowledge of the Steps is not enough as the benefit comes from putting what you have learned into practice. As it is a spiritual programme, there is a suggestion that you should put your faith in a higher power, which means among other things, accepting things that you cannot control and having the courage to change the things you can. The wisdom to know the difference comes with time and experience.
Maybe a visit to the doctor would be a good starting point.
The only thing I can say that helped me stay the course and break through is that I continued doing what I was doing.
I think what you're experiencing is normal. Stay strong and congrats on 8 months.
Sobriety is very much like Star Wars and the death star. Drinking has a pull of the dark side from time to time. The important thing to know is that it will pass. I have been thru a few slumps in my sober time. The slumps do pass and drinking would not have helped.
What I have found is that when I get overwhelmed I want to drink to escape... Well actually my disease is just thoughts and what I do to overcome this is to take a breath... step back and realize the real problem is how I am not coping with all the crap life hurls at me. I also found that I was extremely resentful of others , still am, and so I make a point to pray for them. I pray that they get all that they want and more. It is very freeing.
You are doing very well , just keep on the path and things do get much more evened out.

I also did lots of naps on the w/e. Still do sometimes... but I have found out that if I dont nap, then I feel better about myself.
Another key was to start to help others. If I get to a meeting and genuinely get with someone who is struggling and help them... all the sudden I forgot about me and that is the root of my disease. Self centered and selfish. Helping others helps me.
To have self esteem, one must do esteem able acts!

Firstly, congratulations on 8 months!! Don't let yourself forget how awesome that is. Staying sober is hard and you should be very, very proud how far you've come. Secondly, don't be too hard on yourself. It's tough getting back into things. You aren't a failure because of this, and you will get better. I know it's easier said than done, but try to challenge yourself to do something every day. Even if it's just 5 minute meditation, or 10 minutes of yoga...just try to ease back into it! I wish you all the best.
“ Take this from me and look upon it, judging it for me. Let me not see it as a sign of sin and death, nor use it for destruction. Teach me how NOT to make of it an obstacle to peace, But let You use it FOR me, to facilitate its coming.”
When I tried to do things my way, I would really screw things up but when I asked for help from my Higher Power, I was always able to complete the task at hand.
God Bless
It's important that you make time for YOU and if exercise is your thing that gets the serotonin flowing then put aside a small amount of time each day - just 20 minutes can see you run 2 mile and that's enough to keep the emotions positive xxxx
