Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

One thing that worked was me remembering, through writing and journaling how chaotic and unstable life was as a person who drank, and also how progressively worse it got each and every day. My bottom was startling so anything opposite of that provides motivation never to experience that again, however, I have found and worked with people who when persistently did the next right thing day after day in the beginning, after some time, found specific ways to motivate themselves that didn't require a startling bottom.
I had to read the big book to learn that I had an ego-centric ways of directing my life, which was being led by negative means of doing business. I lost motivation to stay sane or not need a drink, when I decided to function in a mind state of selfishness, inconsideration, self-seeking behavior, fear, or dishonesty, for some reason I lose hope, become mean spirited, drained energy wise, and am not living in God's ideal way my personality needs to shine and enjoy the best life possible.
Take it one day at a time, do the next best right thing, and pray.
After about a month my body started to work again. I remember it was hard for me to even form a thought into words. It was like a disconnect. Things got better and as long as I take some actions I am able to be happy and sober
You can and will do it
What did you replace the drinking behavior with? because I could quit but would always go back once I began to feel better. It was only when I found a replacement was I able to get longer term sobriety

It's all confusing at the beginning. The lifesaver for me was the 12 Step program of AA. I could listen to others going through or who had gone through the same as me. Sober alcoholics welcomed me and worked with me throughout the Steps which led me to having a life worth living.
Try a meeting or 2. What have you got to lose? Welcome to the group. Hugs, Dianna
I was very up and down, I could be so happy that I'm actually doing this in like total shock I'm getting through my day then next thing so mad I thought my skin had shrunk and was too tight I was so irritated and uncomfortable. I got angry a lot and it felt very intense.
I don't think there was any reason for my anger in the beginning but after a while I could find little triggers that set it off and also started to get the feeling of sadness back and then they all came back.
wishing you the best.
It takes a commitment because every time I would quit after a period I would think... it's ok it wasn't THAT bad and go right back on the nipple. I had to decide I was done.
Life is better. I'm happier. Sure I wish I could have a drink sometimes, but I think about the 8th drink where I made an a hole out of myself and say I don't want to go back in the gutter today. Today I choose sober
