Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
The journey will bring many changes and some daunting challenges, but you have begun to do what you know you need to do. Take this a step at a time, an issue at a time, and try not to 'fix' everything at once. It's okay to focus on one problem before attacking another. We can't run down this road. We have to take it step by step. Be good to yourself and congratulate yourself for your achievements.
Maybe you can get to a meeting sometime today? Face to face can give us strength.
Hugs to you.
Or......continue to create your own personal hell?
You are loved! Never question it. xo
Congratulations on day 3!!!! That's interesting that you have transferred your craving to food. I guess that can be a problem too, but I would say right now, it's the lesser of two evils. At least you can choose foods that are healthy for you. It seems like I have a very addictive personality too and I also was sexually abused as a child.
I don't believe in a God who takes a personal interest in us and what we do, but I have heard the beliefs of many religions and I don't think God will keep you out of Heaven.
On food, I think many of us struggle with "cross" addictions. I know I do. I'm somewhat addicted to exercise (have to do at least an hour a day or I feel awful) and I was bulemic all through my teens and most my 20's. A few times in a drunken blur even in the last few years I've eaten a ton and thrown up. Its gross, I feel ashamed, and what I've realized is I have to handle the underlying issue.
The underlying issues for me, somewhat similar to you, include lots of childhood abuse (age 6, and then on and off until I was 13), neglect, and a few other issues.
My sister is a heroin addict and I believe its a direct result of our childhood.
Anyway, I believe all good people (and Dogs, LOL) go to heaven. Addicts too. Addiction to me is like cancer. You don't call a cancer victim a bad person just cause they have cancer. If they have cancer and are an ass, then yes. Just like if you are a drunk, and do bad things, then you are an ass.
Anyway long post.
Good luck, stay here, get healthy.
