Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Alcoholism can be hereditary, it's in my family too. I never set out to become an alcoholic either but here I am! I found a way to be free of the desire to drink through Alcoholics Anonymous.
If you want to be sober for your own sake without reservation you can find what works for you. I empathize, having been through this myself.
Try thinking it through, and I'd suggest also getting support and help.
So sorry to hear about your Dad, I lost mine and really lost the plot some years back. Then I got sober. I like to think he is watching over me, pleased to see that his daughter is living a happier life in sobriety.
You are feeling raw right now, I know words aren't much comfort so I send my empathy.
So sorry to hear about your dad and having been in that situation I know that words are not enough.
My dad passed away over a year ago and thankfully I was able to be there sober to do some of the things that needed to be done. You are angry and sad and that is natural so dont be too hard on yourself. With time you will feel better and until then you can lean on the people who care about you, including the ones here on DS.
When I was where you are now I tried to keep busy and to look at what I could do to try and help other family members. Keep posting here and dont isolate yourself and hopefully there will be better days soon.
How is your day going today?
