Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I got sober with a husband who drinks. He still drinks today. We have beer and wine in our fridge and a liquor cabinet full of booze. the reality is the world doesnt stop drinking because I needed to. I needed to change everything about how I related to the world, and to alcohol to get sober and it had to come from a power greater than me.
So anyway, dust yourself off. Don't beat yourself up or blame your husband.
Have you tried AA? Or anything else? Doing it on my own wasnt possible for me. might work for you, has worked for a few (one or two for sure) here but I needed help and I still do.
Good luck today. its a brand new day.
I have alcohol in the house as well and I know it can be hard, but don't waste all the work you have done until now. it is a blip and keeping positive will keep you on the right track.
now you know where that threshold is, you can try and avoid it in future... make time for yourself and good karma from me to you.
Keep to the road, my friend. You will get there. :)

I do most of the grocery shopping. Which includes buying wine. I guy liquor for her cooking. There is always a corked wine bottle in the house. I just know what I can't drink. One sip and it is all over. This I have proven very clearly.
These last few weeks I have been hitting more meetings then ever. It is better then risking going down that rabbit hole.
Magpie, with your spouse, he most likely will never quit drinking. He would have already done so to support you. As we know, drinking is a selfish me first thing. So, that is a toughie. Either blame him for drinking, or coexist with the boose in the house. Or....well, sometimes we have to make tough decisions if our life depends on it.
I hope you can try AA or another organization before you make any big decisions.
Do not beat yourself up. Just jump back on the horse and find other ways to cope with life's obstacles. Accept that you are powerless and let it go. Give it to the universe/God. Take back the reins in your life and turn around and go another way because life is beautiful without booze.
If your husband's drinking bothers you, then leave the room when he is drinking or ask him not to have the vodka bottle around you.
It never bothered me to have alcohol around or be with drinkers. I think I've always felt that if I want to drink it doesn't matter if it is right in front of me or 100 miles away -- I will find a way to get it. But I've had enough of drinking so I don;t care if others drink or not.
How do you feel about having had the vodka last night? What might have you done differently to keep from picking up the drink? Would having a big glass of water quenched your thirst? Would a bowl of ice cream been a treat that would have made the thoughts of vodka go away?
What could you have done differently?
I was able to get help in a room. I couldn't do it alone.

You say : " If there wasn't so much of it to get done and the knowing that things still need to be done.".
Enter the booze to cope

I have learned that "it" will never be finished and I'm ok with that
You got stressed and you went for old reliable. Booze is really effective at relieving stress. It floats you away and puts you in another place. All addictive substances are somewhat the same in that regard. They provide an artificial escape route, with a price tag. Your body and mind cannot continue to fight the battle with this substance and the booze will eventually win that war. There is only one answer that works and you know what it is. Get and stay natural through abstinence. Alcohol ingestion is NOT a natural component of a healthy lifestyle, no matter what the booze industry tries to tell (sell) you.
