Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Don't beat yourself up anymore. its a totally useless thing to do....I know that's easier said than done but let it go. Hand it over to god or to your HP. Just hand it on over, let go, and go back to your program.
Find a sponsor you trust and who has what you want. Get into the steps, and get off that emotional roller coaster.
I know exactly what it feels like to "relapse" on emotional issues. I havent had a drink over them, but I feel them and if I didnt have the tools I have today, right now, I'd be toast.
So hang on in there. It does get easier a day at a time. And then it gets really really *good* despite dysfunctional families,or friends, etc.
No one can keep you sober, and no one can make you drink. Its in the serenity prayer.
The tools and process of the AA 12 Steps are most effective in removing a lot of the angst in my life and help me to flow with life on life's terms. It's always a work in progress, always will be, but I am at peace today and see life with a whole different perspective than I did in active alcoholism.
I hope you find that too by going through the programme with someone who can guide you with good experience.
Relapse is part of the disease, not recovery.
Glad you're here.
Start reading the book - start with The Doctor's Opinion - that really explains what alcoholism is, and might give you some real insight into what we're dealing with. Keep at the meetings and meet some women - talk to them and pray for a sponsor to show - and they will show themselves. It works. Believe me, it does!
Great stuff :)
