Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
An expansion on M8's acceptance thread... I have been working on my own ability to let go. Reality is, that things are going to happen to me and around me and I may not always like it.
These are the Givens in life - the things we cannot change. From David Richo, adapted from Buddhist tradition, also called "The Golden Mean" by the ancient Romans.

Things dont always go according to plan.
Things are not always fair.
Pain is part of life.
People are not loving and loyal all the time.
Remembering these, and knowing I have no control over them, pulls me out myself and alleviates my discontentment. This is reality. No sense in getting worked up over it.

For me, I wanna live the best I can before the 'given' ends. Sadly, the guy that told me this 'given' is no longer on earth......I know he is smiling where he is though (Hi Paul).

Everything else is up to God. Whether we will feel pain, or have loving people in our lives, or hateful people, on whether life is fair or not, and everything goes according to plan, it is just God's plan not ours. So when life hands you ups and downs, always remember that ---------- It will go one way or the other
All I know is that God is in charge of my life today, I seek His will for me and somehow that works out better than my own little plans and designs.
