Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

With almost 14 years sobriety (07/04/2004), I can firmly say that I no longer am tempted by alcohol. Of course, the thought of a drink crosses my mind at times, just as the thought of eating an entire caramel turtle cheesecake crosses my mind at times. But I easily recognize the folly of such thoughts (although the "temptation" of caramel turtle cheesecake is MUCH greater).
In fact, the BB of AA tells us
"We are not fighting it, neither are we avoiding temptation. We feel as though we had been placed in a position of neutrality - safe and protected. We have not sworn off. Instead, the problem has been removed. It does not exist for us."

***Disclaimer - I realize this is not an AA only site; however, AA is how I got sober and I attest only to my personal success with AA. YMMV.
There’s no doubt today I could have a drink or two but tomorrow I’d be worse off than ever before.
Good job with work. Keep it going!

Yeah, thinking I need to feel even better than I already do is the source of the warped thinking, especially the illusion that some chemical or liquid is ever going to do that. But I find myself drifting when I'm not meditating daily, straying from the good place, the person I want to be, contemplating these sudden impulses.
So easy to forget that we have everything we need right now to be contented, just the way we are. It just a matter of perspective.
