My granddaughter is not allow to spend the night with me. I have to be able to prove to my son-in-law I'm not drinking... HOW? He said a 90 day AA chip. My schedule won't allow the meetings right now and I'm not that fond of them. Then he mentioned a personal sponser. Someone I could call when I felt like haveing a drink. OK. He would then be able to call them and see how I was doing. If they're not with me how are they really going to know how I'm doing? I know this is something that will take time but if he wants proof how?

If you don't like AA meetings don't go. Your son in law needs to know that AA is not the only way. Tell him to bring a breathalyzer when he brings granddaughter over to spend the night.

I just use DS and i have been sober about 5 years.

Congrats on your five years!!!!! Not just my son-in-law but my daughter also want it to be an extend time with no drinking not just that night.

I'm hoping DS will help me too. It's a way for me to gets what's on my mind out. Thanks for your comment. It was exciting to see I had one. Have a great weekend.

Unfortunately I had to prove by actions to my family that I was changing. I had lied and checked out for so long. It has been 6 no and just starting to earn their trust again

It makes me feel good to hear I'm not the only one in this position. My boss yesterday said " do something today your future self will thank you for". Signing up on DS is my thing for me today!

I've heard many stories like you. Adults tell their parents that they cannot contact their grandkids. I've seen the miracles of AA change people and fix relationships.

But you can only get the miracle if you want to stop drinking. You can't stop for anyone else. It has to be within you. If you get 90'days and you've worked the steps, they'll know the difference. They won't need to breathalyze you or call a sponsor.

It's that easy.

I see your children are trying to raise the new & improved managed child. I know a few like that & it will be interesting to see how the future unfolds with the new all m-hands-on-deck child-rearing. As a child, I was always greeted by my grandparents with a Shirley Temple while they had cocktails.
