Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hi everyone,
It's been about 5 months since I last stopped in. I was getting ready to go on a cruise with my kids, marriage was stressed, and I was worried about being tempted to drink on cruise.
Happy to report, I did not drink, although first day was rough. People made it look so glamorous, but later on, it didn't appear as much. The second day, I found the AA meeting, and I had (and can remember) the best time. My kids and I laughed so hard, who knew I was so funny without alcohol?
I have come to the conclusion, and accept the fact that marriage is always going to have times of stress, and times of bliss, and fun and laughter. I also (on our good days) absolutely know its all worth it. I go back and forth with the thought that I don't need AA, or my therappist, but then I go and feel relief, and strength. I love knowing that this site is here, and plan to use it more for encouragement and advice. I still feel weird being totally honest about my thoughts and feelings in both of those arenas, and with my husband. Here, I feel safer. I know, thats probably a cop out, but its where I am right now.
Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone! Stay strong, and stay sober.

I accidentally deleted a journal entry that I wish I hadn't. Is there any way to get it back?

Instead of going to work I slept in until 11 am Now I'm treating myself at McAllister's to a Spud Max. When I go back tomorrow it will be Friday!

God Bless
I found myself in the early months saying "I can't believe i"m doing this sober!"
And as you said, you have memories now!
Getting the support--it makes it so much better for some of us. It is another thing to be grateful for.
My mind tells me I got this and I’m ok but I too somehow just find myself driving to my meeting and feeling better. I think it’s like knowing there is a tiger in the jungle waiting to pounce, but I just keep my eye on him and I can stay out of his way.
Glad you made it and keep checking in

I go to Vegas a lot and have probably 20 times in my sobriety (4+) years.
I know that initial feeling of glamorous drinking. It passes and I’m grateful to always be sober!
I’m so happy for you.
