Waking up today after 8 days sober, best feeling ever. I've made it a full week without missing a day of work so I know I will have a full paycheck and that is so great. I now have 3 days off but I've filled those days with activities and chores to help me avoid temptation.
My husband lost an old friend a few days ago and has taken it hard. he met up with a friend at a bar to drink away the pain and after they both got home safely (I was still at work) hubby asked if I could stop at the liquor store on my way home to pick up a bottle of fireball whiskey (his friend who passed favourite go to).... I was a bit annoyed he asked me, but he was drunk and I knew he was upset so I said I would. A huge hurdle was overcome! I got in and out with that whiskey only and did not even stop or look towards my beer cases. I didn't have to watch my husband drink, he made sure of that and the next day apologized for his behaviour and asking what he did of me. He's also trying to quit, and had done well, better than me up until his friend died. I'm proud of him even though he relapsed...but most proud of myself for avoiding a potentially bad situation and waking up going on 9 days sober.

I am ok with going into the liquor store for my boyfriend....because I was SO sick...I am joyus to be able to enter the liquor store and NOT have a craving at all...to hold my head high...instead of being in my pjs...no makeup....no shower for DAYS...and shaking, wanting to kill someone in front of me just so I can cash out and go home and drink.
I'm GLAD he apologized to you because it sounds like it may have been a little bit tempting for you and I would ask him that if he is going to drink...to please arrange to get the stuff in the future either himself or by one of his friends he goes out with because you can't right now...you may be able to someday without a blink...but that is scary if that is a trigger.
You have come so far...its so good to hear the JOY in the tone of your text.

The only thing "awesomer" would be to say to him next time, "No; I'm never going into that bottle shop again; get someone else to do your dirty work."
It's just too risky and it's sending the subconscious message to your brain that going in there and/or any involvement with alcohol it okay. It's not...
