Spending year in treatment.

So I m getting ready for my departure.Next sunday I will start year long program in Mandan,North dakota.It is Teen Challenge.
For adults.I heard some negative reviews about it...that this is cult and brainwashing.
Teen Challenge have programs all over the USA so I hope that this one in ND would be good.If not I migh just finnish earlier.
So far I feal very scared and worry about the unknow.Worry about this being to religious or strick.Well I might just take day by day,it is hard to think about it.

Wow a year is quite a committment. Try not to talk yourself out of this. Keep a positive attitude about your recovery. The saying in AA goes keep what you need and leave the rest. You have set a goal for yourself and thats an important part of getting sober. Just remember you're doing this for you. I must say though I would have picked Florida over North Dakota but we wish you the best and our prayers are with you. Goodluck Greg

I don't understand why it's called Teen Challenge, if it's for adults. So, it's for 18 and 19 year olds then?

Wow a year is a huge commitment. Good for you. And like you said.....if its not the experience you wanted, pull the pin.
But go with an open mind, and willingness and you might just love it!!

The only thing I know about Teen Challenge is its beginnings. It was founded by David Wilkerson, and he pioneered a ministry to the gangs of New York City in the late 50's. From there, it grew much larger.

It is most certainly not a cult, but it's probably a tough program.

Read a book called "The Cross and the Switchblade". It was written by the founder, and shows how the most hardened people can find salvation.

Teen Challenge is a great opportunity. In Connecticut it is 18 months. It is a Christian based program. It is very grounded in the bible. I believe G-d is the solution to our problems. You can get sober without Him but it was not possible for me. This is a huge commitment. I pray you are up to the possibility of a sober and joyful life. One day, one hour, one minute - whatever it takes. I hope it is what you need and what you are looking for.

I know that this is a strick program..specially for people who dont like to fallow the rulles(like me)...this either make me,or break me.
